I bought this bag because the other dress bags I own were too short to carry a formal dress. I used this bag to carry a beaded (hence heavy) formal dress cross country to a close family member's wedding and I was part of the wedding party. I put this bag in another small suitcase and took it on the plane. I wanted it to be in its own pocket in case a bead breaks off along the way, I don't lose a single bead and can repair any damage upon arrival. The dress stayed well protected, no problems, of course I was VERY relieved. It's made of a thicker material than any other garment bag I have. It has handles in the same material as the bag at each end, which is great for carrying alone. To wear a formal dress I recommend using 2 hangers. The dress has an S-shape, thanks to which the lower half of the dress does not fall back and does not wrinkle. I also really like the large transparent window on one side, through which you can see what's in the bag without opening it. Highly recommended.
