Our HCM350 humidifier is in operation almost 24 hours a day. So I have a lot of experience cleaning and using a machine with filters. These filters hold up just as well, if not better than others I've tried. I use regular unfiltered tap water. Invert the filter every time I fill the tank and submerge the filter in cold water when the outer layer appears dry when refilling. Be sure to clean your real humidifier with a mixture of bleach and water from time to time. Remember that this machine is constantly in the water. If you have mold then your car is dirty and needs to be treated with care. Clean the machine itself, not just the filter. Clean the water tank and lower bowl with the bleach mixture, making sure to rinse with COLD water. About 3 times a month I soak the filter in vinegar for 10 minutes. Over time, mineral deposits form on the filter and discolour, this is normal, the filter actually filters this out of the water! Good luck, the HCM350 is one of the best humidifiers out there and these filters work phenomenally with the machine. I will definitely buy more.
