Review on Dell UP2516D LED Monitor ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ with 2560x1440P Resolution for High Definition Viewing by Jose Bellotti

Very happy with the choice

I recently bought a Mac Pro (2015) and wanted a monitor that would take advantage of the Mac's high resolution. Over 90% of work is done on the desktop, and the 13-inch Mac screen is too small for my aging eyes. After much research I decided that the Dell 2516D is a good choice. I particularly liked the flexible stand, connectivity options, pixel count, front panel controls, and good reviews. I've had the monitor for 2 weeks now and I'm glad I made this choice. As I expected, the stand, connectivity and controls are excellent. Color is good (I'm not a photographer) and bright. Reflections are negligible and can be kept to a minimum with a flexible stand. I like having 2 USB ports on the side. The buttons on the front work solidly, although you can't see anything until you hold your finger on them for a few seconds. That takes some getting used to. I have my input sources set to a MAC DP connection and 2 HDMIs (one for my TV and one for my old PC). I leave mDP blank which is nice because when I leave my desk I set mDP to it and the screen stays blank until I explicitly set it to DP. If I just close my MAC and don't select mDP, the screen will detect a TV signal and automatically switch to TV mode. I set mirror mode to 2048 x 1152 to get more text. Even at this reduced resolution, text is crisp. I've tried portrait mode and it works fine, but a common problem (I had the same problem with my gateway monitor) is that the cables get tight (5 cables) and sometimes loosen when the monitor is rotated. So be careful. The base/stand is REALLY solid. It has a nice flat base that I can fit my phone and Seagate hard drive on.
