, when I was looking for Mac or Apple reviews and questions I saw some people say yes it's compatible! and others who give one star say it's not compatible. Well I ONLY opened it up, did a quick test write and then plugged it into my MacBook Air. This recorder's icon appeared on my desktop, I found and opened the file and it is in m4a format which is not compatible with Apple's fast time. But then you can just 'convert m4a to mp3' or google any format if you don't want mp3 and you will see many free websites that convert the file easily and freely (but I don't know where the limit is ). Data conversion - how would it convert half an hour of conversation for free?). You just drag and drop the m4a file to the website that does free conversions, select the file type you want to convert it to and then click "Upload". For me, converting to mp3 opened the file in Music (formerly called iTunes) and when I converted to aac (I think) it opened in the Books app. may depend on your computer etc. I thought the sound sucked until I googled how to turn up the volume. The audio quality of just my voice was pretty good when I opened it in Apple Music! I haven't tested this by talking to anyone else. I love that you can just quickly toggle the record button and start recording without any fuss or waiting. It automatically prompted me to set the date and time, which I did with no problem, but I see that when I open the m4a file on my computer, it shows the date as 2016 or so, not July 9th, 2021 as I said. ok if i want to trim something as backup for my iphone voice memo app. BUT I'm suspicious that I always need to convert m4a to another file type, just don't know how hard the files will be and if file conversion will always be free. So if I had to record an important half-hour conversation, I don't know if that would work. I think I'll just have to check it out. I LOVE its simplicity. When I write something in voice memos in the Voice Notes app on my iPhone, I can just email the recording to myself, I don't have to connect anything - this machine doesn't have that. but I intended to use it to record phone conversations, which I can't do with voice memos while on the phone. I know my review is incomplete because I haven't fully tested it yet but just wanted to get this for Macbook people. I tend to look for something like this machine - simple - that outputs Apple compatible file types just for ease of use. but it's light and the battery seems durable and easy to use (except I have to do file conversions, which is annoying). So if I can't find anything better, I keep it to myself.
