I actually bought these to replace an almost identical pair that I had for many years. The workmanship is good enough that I spent the money to replace the last pair when the tread started to wear out. I actually did a repair or two on another pair (same brand) to keep them working. Still, wouldn't I have to replace them if I could find another shoemaker? Now this pair looks just as good, but I was disappointed that I couldn't find a closer match to the previous style. This pair is a bit 'grandma' for my taste, but I'm hoping as the leather molds to my foot (yes I believe it's actually real leather, how good is the last pair) it will take on a little more personality . . I think the main style element that let me down is the socks. My other pair had extra detailing around the toe that ruined it a bit. In general I would say after this shoe or better models from the same brand!
