Review on Get Pierced Safely With The 2 Pack Self Ear Piercing Gun Kit by Justin Abrams

Broke during piercing process so I had to do it manually

I used this product before and loved it. This time both of the earring guns were duds. The plastic broke (not in the pop-off way it's supposed to when you pierce successfully -- the plastic case IS supposed to break off the earring so it stays on your ear) and in one instance, the plastic case was stuck over my half-pierced ear and I had to wrestle it off, which led to a very unsightly and unclean pierce. I had to finish it by piercing it manually without the precision of the instrument. The other ear did pierce fully but the mechanism case also did not break off. What's worse, it forced the back of the earring too close to my lobe. I found out a few days later when my ear was swollen and radiating with irritation. I tried to loosen the piercing to give my lobe more room and reduce swelling but the kind of pain I was feeling told me my ear was 100% rejecting this piercing. I took it out and let it heal. Later I re-pierced two different parts of my lobe successfully with no issues, so I know the problem was this product. My verdict? It's a toss-up! Some of them work perfectly, others don't work even if you're slow/careful and follow all instructions. Be ready to potentially pierce manually if it messes up -- and ensure the earring back is not pushed too close to the lobe to allow space for minor swelling.

Pros
  • Saves time compared to waiting in line at a piercing studio
Cons
  • Potential for infection may affect other areas
