I used this when I was on vacation and we were at the beach to protect my phone from sand. This works to keep sand out. I haven't tried it underwater to see if it's truly waterproof, but I would never do that. I suspect it's probably waterproof based on the way it opens and closes. But I took off a star because I have to tell you it literally took me 10 minutes to open it and put my phone in and then another 5 to close it again. Another star was removed because we tried to take a picture while it was in the plastic and it came out very blurry. In the end I would recommend this product as it works to protect your phone from sand (that's what I wanted it for), but it has its own issues if you plan on taking it into the water and using it as a camera.
