Despite the marketing for these pads, they noticeably alter the sound of the ATH-M50x. I compared these directly to another pair with the stock pads, switching pads and cables to make sure there wasn't a problem with another piece of hardware. I'm not an audio expert, but I can safely say that the the lows are way less punchy, the highs are tinny, and everything sounds generally muddier and undefined with the Brainwavz ProStock pads. They significantly reduced my enjoyment of the music I listened to. Why can't these companies just take the hint and make copycat stock pads instead of trying to "improve" the design? To their credit, they sound better than the generic Brainwavz velour pads I bought a while back (FBA_HM5-Earpads-Velo). My brother also couldn't tell the difference between the ProStocks and the stock pads. Not sure if I'll keep them because they're a little better than the velour ones, or if I'll return them to save 30 bucks. In any case, kind of a bummer.
