By trimming to the correct length, you are not limited to 12", 18", 24" or 36" lights that can create dark areas. Between the strips, the light can be made more even. When you put 2 strips together there is a little problem because you have to peel off the glue and clean the copper pads thoroughly. Too much heat will damage the copper pads and you'll have to cut off another inch to get to the new ones. Also, once you've removed the tape, you'll need to use something to insulate the LED strip from the metal you're attaching it to. Very satisfied with the product. I also used it as accent lighting near the ceiling above our fireplace.
