We needed a lidded butter dish for two reasons: 1, we love room temperature butter for toasting and cooking, and 2, our cat discovered that we keep butter evenly on the counter as we left the kitchen (and I think that butter is delicious, he ate a lot of it at night). That's great! It's quite large and can hold two whole sticks or a whole block of pounds. The lid is easy to remove and lower. This is a lovely neutral white porcelain so it blends into the worktop and looks less cluttered. Above all, the cat has already lost a pound or two due to the lack of nocturnal oil licking.
