Here's the thing. The video recorder is out of order. In the system itself everything is fine. But that's why it didn't get 5 stars. The manual explains that once you connect it to the internet, an IP address is automatically assigned. However, I chose NOT to connect to Wi-Fi as that would be a way to hack the system. You also need a router to connect to the WiFi. We don't have a router, never bought one. I played around with it once after work. Learning curve as the guide is based on using Wi-Fi. That's when I discovered that my system suddenly had an IP address. And no matter what I did, the IP address showed up again. I started contacting some high tech buddies about this. They too were amazed at the sudden appearance of said IP address. The system is NOT wireless and there is no cable leading to Wi-Fi and no router. And then, one fine day, the system just crashed like it had been infected by a deadly virus. Now lights up and only shows the ZOSI logo. It does this for a few minutes, then it beeps and turns off. After a few minutes it beeps and tries to restart. This will continue indefinitely. To their credit, ZOSI will send you a new DVR for free. And they're concerned about how he got the IP address. They want the old one back. So thank you ZOSI for handling the situation very politely and professionally. When I get a new one they take it to a professional who installs an alarm on it. If someone fakes it at any level, they protect themselves by sending a counterbolt that should stop the hacker's attempts both physically and technologically. Playing around with this one certainly won't go down well with those who screwed up the first one. So beware buyers, this particular DVR is easily beaten and hacked. Also, a virus can be installed that simply disables the DVR. I really hope the ZOSI IT staff will keep me updated. It would be ideal if ZOSI could tell me WHO hacked it. Just a name would be nice.
