This is a great way to start shaving and try out different blades. I'm surprised how different everyone was. I didn't use soap - I'm a real fan of Taylor of Old Bond Street sandalwood shaving cream with a badger hair brush. I use a Baili razor. Good, non-aggressive razor, suitable for sensitive skin. He doesn't shave too closely. I have a thick beard. For blades: 1 - spring - 3 days use. Sharpness 10/102 - Derby - 3 days use. Sharpness 9.5/10 - very close between 1 and 2.3 - Astra - 2 days use, Sharpness 9/104 - Trig - 3 days use, Sharpness 8/105-6 - both Lord blades - 2 days use. Sharpness 7/107 - Shark - 1 day use. Sharpness 8.5/108 - Gillette - 1 day. Sharpness 5/10. Really bad blade. Almost as bad as the Baili blade pattern that came with the razor. To be honest 1, 2 and 3 are pretty close with one notable difference between Derby and Astra. I am VERY happy with the Feather and Derby knives and would definitely recommend either of them. This Astra was also really good. I think that's a great choice.
