As you can see from the attached picture, the magnetization pattern is stripes. The poles are approximately 1mm wide and separated by a 1mm gap. This means that the sheet metal must rest on an absolutely even magnetic steel surface for good adhesion. Due to the thinness of the layer, this also means that any given area is likely to only support something like the equivalent area of a single layer of paper or map. If card stock then it should lie flat because if it is twisted the magnet may not be strong enough to straighten it. It should not be viewed as a direct replacement for traditional fridge magnet material, which has wider poles and gaps, and significantly greater thickness and power ratings per unit area.
