Great but the price is high

I don't know dude. I'm a big Acer fan. I've never been up to speed on their laptops, but their desktops are great and I trust their peripherals. I'm not sure about this dock though. Don't get me wrong, this is a really great docking station. I've tested docks from Wavlink, Plugable, StarTech, and Corsair, and while Corsair was the best of them all, the Acer Dock III comes very close in terms of desirability and ability to cram a lot of tech into a small box. I hate bulky docks, but this one is comfortably smooth and light. It's just a good item for your table. I also like the range of ports that are offered. Personally, I would have preferred two HDMI ports to two DP, but that's neither here nor there. There's a wide variety of USB ports, and the port layout suits me very well when it's on my desk. The power supply also seems well thought out and quite compact. Acer has done well here. There are only two problems, a very small one and a fairly large one. First is the base which is made out of the ugliest plastic I've ever seen on a quality product. It looks and feels cheap, the plastic makes an awkward noise when you run your nails over it which doesn't make sense to me as the dock itself is amazing. I have no idea why they decided to ruin the dock's look with this base. It's like giving Mona Lisa an eyebrow. However, the big problem is the cost. My Corsair TBT100 Thunderbolt 3 dock is the closest competitor to this one I've tried, costing about 80% of the Acer's - and even at that price, it feels a little pricey. I like and trust Acer, and I really appreciate trust in technology from a trusted brand, but I'm just not sure I could justify the price if I paid my own money for it. If your budget can stretch to Dock III, then by all means go for it. This is a great product. Simply unscrew the base, lay it flat and admire the beautiful proportions. However, if you just want something that offers the same functionality, you can get the same ports from Wavlink or Plugable for significantly less. This is your challenge.
