Great bang for the buck!

I'm a die-hard fan of Canon DSLRs, but I've heard a lot of good press about small, lightweight mirrorless cameras. As I'm a Samsung fan and the price was amazing I decided to order this one and give it a try. I've had it for a few months now and I've used it in all sorts of everyday situations. My only real complaint about it is the viewfinder, which is almost impossible to see in daylight. Samsung has since addressed this issue in a newer model by providing a tilt and rotate screen so you can move it up or down for a better view. The newer model also has the ability to take selfies. As for this camera itself, I find it performs excellently in most cases. I took some night time photos at the carnival which were amazing straight out of the camera. Sometimes the daytime sky clears, but then again there are so many settings I haven't tried yet, maybe I just haven't found the right one. Anyone who looked it up and said there was no manual override was dead wrong. Maybe they just didn't look for them long enough to find them. Overall I'd say that for those wanting to dive into the sea of mirrorless cameras this is a solid choice, especially if most of your midday shots will be somewhere other than outside. Adding another lens is also highly advisable. I bought a Samsung 50-200 from Wal-Mart.com for $199, which brought my entire system under $600. Oh! And the Wi-Fi connection is fantastic! You can share other Samsung devices like Galaxy S series phones or tablets on social networks. So if you are connected to Wi-Fi and have automatic backups, you will never run out of storage space as you can back up to Google. or somewhere during recording. I don't use this feature often, but it IS. Finally, keep in mind that it uses a micro SD card and charges with a regular Samsung single-pin charger. And it comes with an external flash, not a built-in one, but I never use the built-in flash, so I certainly don't miss it.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for seniors
