These filters are consistently ineffective. The manufacturer states up to 40 gallons or approximately 2 months for one filter. That's a lie. I track and measure every drop of water I drink. They barely last for 10 gallons which is about 2 weeks for me. Then the water flows through them so slowly that I can fill the jug before bed, and in the morning, 8 hours later, it's still not fully filtered. If it takes a whole day to filter a few glasses of water, they're practically useless. It would take a lifetime to actually miss 40 gallons of water with the way it slows down. At first I thought I might have gotten fake or generic filters from Revain sellers so I gave it another shot by buying them myself. from two different major retailers. I tried both the lead reduction and the standard filter. Nobody works longer than 2 weeks. In some cases, they became clogged and slowly began to move after a few days. I have a few that mysteriously work much longer than the others but even they haven't made it past the 2 month mark. Yes, I followed the package directions regarding soaking etc to make sure they sink into my soaking tub and there are no air bubbles. I've tried tricks where you shake them or run water backwards through them. (The fact that people even have to post tips and tricks and detailed instructions to get it working should tell you something.) I've come to the conclusion that not only is this not good value, but that the manufacturer cheats their statements. Not only will I be moving to another system as soon as possible, but I will also be looking into class action lawsuits. Looking through other reviews on here and complaints online, I'm not alone and this particular product *really* annoys me. (There's nothing worse than being thirsty on a hot day and seeing that water you poured into the jug HOURS ago is still at the top!) Somebody needs to stand up against all the negative reviews and other misled consumers fight back
