Great dog food, best food

After losing two dogs to the same cancer: hemangiosarcoma, we decided to give our dog food a serious look. We've always used Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice. Whether this was just a coincidence or was actually the CAUSE of cancer in our unrelated dogs, we didn't know. But we decided to look for other dog food when we got a third dog, a rescued husky puppy. Our vet insisted the dog food had nothing to do with her other dogs cancer so we tried a Blue Buffalo puppy and the puppy was very sick. The vets ruled out the possibility of parvovirus, but she had persistent diarrhea. She was so skinny and losing strands of hair. We researched and switched to Rachel Ray Peak and she was feeling much better after a few days. She has been on Rachel Ray Peak for almost 2 years and feels great. Her coat is shiny and silky, but she still sheds like crazy like most huskies. The cost is pretty reasonable and we've never been to a place that we couldn't find their food. Several times over the years it has been late or we have been to a location where the pet store or veterinary office was not open and we could not get Blue Buffalo for our dogs. Love the fact that this is a high quality food item that can be found in grocery stores and 24 hour supermarkets (sometimes with coupons!). We are fans of Rachael Ray dog food. However, after a year of subscription and storage, we no longer buy it from Revain as the package has been opened on three separate occasions. Revain was kind enough to replace the bags twice, but that's a major inconvenience and feels like a huge waste of food to throw it all away.

Pros
  • Trying for a year
Cons
  • Vulgarity
