One day my luggage was lying in a trolley in the airport shower, waiting to be loaded onto a plane. Just by wrapping my suitcase in plastic wrap and wrapping it around the contents, the contents of my suitcase were almost dry. Water has partially penetrated through several holes in the protective coating. 1 mil film is light and waterproof enough for this purpose. I bought a new one and am hoping it will last a few rides without breaking.
