In the winter here in Buffalo it snows heavily and sometimes gets very cold. We build snowballs and sleds, then plunge into them for hot cocoa. These gloves aren't for all of that. We bought them for chilly bus stops on fall mornings and indoor ice skating lessons. For that reason, I fully endorse these gloves. I have a pair for my 8 year old daughter and a pair for my 5 year old son and they both fit equally well.
