I don't know if they will come back into fashion, but this is a proven and very old design. You'll find them in many basement bars (with wood paneling all around ;), garages, darkrooms, and auto repair shops across the country. really comfortable to sit on. To add a backrest, well, that backrest is a tradition for this stool, but this particular brand has pulled it back too far in my opinion. Sitting on a high stool with the back reclined is not very comfortable. For me, all of the above puts this stool in a strange place for me. It looks like they're trying to make it look better, but it's not, and the small details they changed to make it look like that made it less user-friendly. its reuse (woodworking). I removed the tree and the backing. It is quite durable (500# rating).
