Not as good an idea as it first seemed

Just got on a homemade gel train - everything is going better than I expected, but it's not surprising that removing it is a major pain, and there it takes so long that made me hurt my nails to hurry with it. I thought it would be perfect. It probably works just as well as other reviewers say, but I just couldn't use it long enough to see it for myself. The fumes - even with a towel over them - and the condition of my fingers after just a few minutes of soaking made me reconsider if this was a good idea. I'm already nervous about the repeated use of UV/LED lamps - it may not be good for you. Will I then soak my entire fingertip in pure acetone? When I think about it, it just didn't seem like a good long-term option for security reasons. So I went back to pre-packaged foil with a cotton pad built in. It's not perfect and I have to treat each hand separately to keep the foil on all fingers, but at least you can tell where the chemicals are going. I think there's a reason they use foil and cotton in the cabin. This was my third option - first I made plastic snaps to hold the cotton - yes they work well - then foil with cotton embedded and then that. As I said I'm going back to foiling for now. Please note that this is not a criticism of the quality of the product etc. The trays were sturdy, hot water ran underneath like a charm etc.
