I purchased this attachment to work with a 17.5" x 11" x 11.5" nano aquarium and was very pleased with the results. This tank comes with operated under pressurized carbon dioxide but without a special fermentation mode Plants include HC, UG, Rotala Mini Type 2, Stauro Repens, Pogo Helferi, Flame Moss, Peacock Moss and Mini Pellicle a small aquarium...what to expect... I have been looking at LED lights for planted aquariums for some time and Finnex lights seem like a worthy fixture at a fairly reasonable price A strong motivation for switching to LED was the desire to reduce power consumption as electricity is insanely expensive in Australia Direct observations after switching: Obviously the Finnex wasn't as bright as the T5 but still gave enough light around 90% tanks The light let the plants compare to the fluorescent lights will appear slightly washed out, but not too badly, and once your eyes adjust to the difference, you're good to go. The plants continue to happily produce pearls and almost all have a decent growth spurt. , especially Stauro. It was noticeable within a week and now after 6 weeks it is continuing. Blue moonlight is "cute" but it's really just a gimmick with no real value for either plant growth or lighting. Aside from trying them out when I first installed the device, I haven't used them since. The bracket itself is very thin and attractive and greatly improves the appearance of the tank. It feels well made and the adjustable legs extend just enough to fit the rim of my tank. It also runs a lot cooler than the T5, gets warm but doesn't feel uncomfortable. Overall I am very satisfied with this lamp. I'm getting growth rates AT LEAST as good as mine with much higher light output and the aesthetics of the tank are vastly improved. 48 inch fittings for me. I've been waiting to see how this unit performs before buying more and received a 36 inch unit 3 weeks ago which I'll review shortly although I haven't been too happy with the results so far . Time will tell. UPDATE: Somehow I haven't bothered to update this review until now but wanted to give a progress report. Now, a year later, I can say that my opinion of this lamp hasn't changed and I've now become a real fan of the Finnex brand. As can be seen in the picture, this attachment allows you to easily grow lush plants in tanks that are not too deep. The UG jewels are going crazy and even the pogo is coming. I highly recommend these lamps. **** SECOND UPDATE **** My difference is how many months how much time has passed since the update described above. When my light came on today, one of the blocks failed and just blinks. . Hopefully it's just the power supply that comes with the Planted Plus lights (the Ray 2 doesn't have one), so I'll find a replacement and see if that fixes the problem (hopefully). I have 9 Finnex LEDs, three of which are Planted Plus. This is the only one that has not been in operation for 13 months. Hopefully this is not a sign that something is coming, otherwise I still think these lights are great and for planted aquariums they easily outshine lights that are 3 times as expensive.
