Just started using it and already noticed some bugs in the program. My biggest downside is that the video captured is choppy and low resolution, it really detracts from the experience and in my opinion not good enough for today's standards or for capturing valuable timeless videos. Playback on the camcorder is very smooth and at high frame rates you can see that the clarity on the Video8/Hi8 tapes is pretty good. But Vidbox's video capture is just below average at close range. The resolution was advertised as 1080p, from what I've read maybe it's PC only? I can't find any setting to increase the resolution. It doesn't currently encode video files larger than 640p, which are pretty pixelated in fullscreen and lose a lot of frame at that resolution. Not sure if it's "frame skipping" but the framerate isn't smooth - shaky and jumpy on digital playback, is there something wrong with the encoding from the program or maybe I have a bad viewbox? Also, I wish there was an option to record mono audio as many older videos didn't record audio in stereo and I have to fix that in a post now. I will probably return this product. I have a lot of power in my Macbook Air with Majave, 2.2GHz Intel i7, 8GB RAM. Using an S-Video connection from Sony Hi8 camcorder to Vidbox and using RCA for sound. Does anyone know of a home device that can record analog video at 1080p or higher? Would you also like a higher frame rate, maybe 60 fps?
