Review on Pack MELISSA DOUG SHAPE SORTING by Heidi Young

1 Star because the item title and listing are misleading. They state "5 Pack MELISSA & DOUG Shape Sorting Cube” so I expected there to be 5 of these when I ordered. Otherwise I don’t know what "5 Pack” is supposed to reference. There’s more than 5 pieces/blocks for the cube so it’s not referencing those. This came with 1 cube and 12 wooden shapes.I received 1 cube, not 5 as listing states. This was on sale at the time and less than $12 with prime shipping. I was ordering it for my classroom and liked the idea of multiple cubes, even if they were on the smaller side. I would not have ordered it had I known it would be only 1 cube.The size of the cube is slightly bigger than a toilet paper roll. I’ve included a photo to show the size.I’ve seen similar cube shape sorting items and they’re usually a tad larger in my opinion.This would be a good size for sitting on a table for a child to work with or on the floor.It has the appropriate markings and labels to be an authentic Melissa & Doug produce so I’m sure it is good quality. However, it’s made of what looks like balsa wood or some other lightweight wood. The top piece slides out for access to the inside to retrieve the shapes. The sliding piece is a much thinner wood piece than the rest of the cube. It also looks difficult for a small child to maneuver.In summary, had this came with the 5 cubes I was expecting OR if the price had been significantly lower for just the one cube I received, I’d have given it 5 stars.The misleading title and description for 5 pack however gets a 1 star rating.
