Review on πŸ’‘ Enhanced Performance Sunlite 40979 Par30 Short Dimmable: A Spotlight on Versatility and Dimming Abilities by Anita Davis

A good bulb if you can compromise

These lamps have many advantages, but there are also trade-offs. Pros: They have good brightness and directivity, the color is warm for an LED, and being mostly plastic they're virtually indestructible and fairly inexpensive. There aren't many short neck PAR30 LED bulbs out there. However, they have several disadvantages. The front lens, also made of plastic, has a cut-out (probably to focus the beam). Using a suction cup extender to get to a high ceiling area is not the safest practice. Mine fell 15 feet once and didn't break, so I can speak of its durability. Another downside is that these bulbs don't dim the light well. Yes, they do dim, and yes, there can be inconsistencies depending on the brand of dimmer. However, I have tried them with three different LED compatible dimmers and the results for all are such that they cannot be made very dim without flickering. In some places that's not a problem, but if you want to dim it like a lightbulb, you won't get close to that level. I would buy them again but I'm hoping that if I need to replace some of the issues will be resolved.

Pros
  • GIVES A WARM LIGHT: A 30 bulb with a color temperature of 2700K emits a warm white light and creates a cozy atmosphere in any room in your home
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
