Good price comes with a new spring to replace the old rusty one, repair less than 5 minutes. I cleaned well all the places where the old valve was and then applied o-ring grease to both sides of the edge of the new rubber diaphragm that meets the plastic where it creates a seal. The second or third time I drove the car, the engine light went out and the idle immediately returned to its normal 700 rpm. The symptoms were bumps and bumps at idle, it was really noticeable and even at low speeds you could feel the engine pumping. We just bought a used car and it has 107,000 on the odometer and we live in Arizona. So when I took the old rubber valve off, it fell apart in my hands. So if your VW does the same thing or something similar, buy parts first, it was cheap and worked for us :)
