We have quite a lot of thermos products. We bought this to quickly toss a drink in a bag rather than a plastic water bottle. It's airtight when you put the lid on, just like all other thermos flasks. (Tip: put the outer rubber straw under the water just before you pull it back into the lid.) Obviously, this isn't for toddlers and they expect them to use it properly. Despite 18m+ marketing. Stick to leak-proof cups if you want a truly leak-proof, no-fuss drink container. This is more for 3+ years and older. Please don't write a bad review because you and your kid are not using it properly. I admit that we had to teach our children not to chew soft straw. Otherwise, the straw will last more than 2 years without chewing. My older 9 year old takes him to school almost every day and to the gym 3 times a week. My 5 year old makes it to the gym two days a week and soon to school. Believe me we tried many brands. I have no problems with Tritan. Be sure to give your baby a glass bottle! Good luck with it. Good luck finding something that isn't packaged in that plastic or worse. Hell, most of us grew up without seat belts, it seems we all survived. You should probably be more concerned about proper cleaning than leaching plastic.
