I was introduced to Zip disks when I was taking a computer class about 5 years ago. I didn't even have a CD burner at the time, but I found a suggestion on a Zip drive. These are essentially hardened floppy disks, and since most of the things I need to back up are documents in progress, it's easy to copy items onto a zip disk on a regular basis. I've been using the same three for a few years and have never had a problem and always recommend them to my friends, but CDs and now DVDs seem to be more popular. DVDs may have more space, but for text or HTML documents that need to be edited frequently, zip files work much better for my needs.
