I bought these because I like going out at night. I have to say they are pretty damn loud and the fact that they can only be disabled by returning the pin is a good thing as it means an attacker cannot disable them automatically. The only thing is that it sounds like a car alarm, so in a big city where car alarms go off all the time, it might not draw that much attention. Another bonus feature that I really like is the flashlight. My boyfriend and I use them on evening walks around the cemetery and they are a lot brighter than some of the other flashlights we've had. Overall I like them and plan to buy them again for my loved ones as gifts.
