I love this camera! I bought it to replace my Canon xTi (bought in 2008) which was still working but I wanted a new camera because both the technology and my photography skills have improved in 7 years. When researching new SLR cameras, I had a hard time deciding on a camera. This was between t5, sl1 and t5i. I chose this one because it had a better light sensor than the t5 and t5i, but the price wasn't as high as the t5i. At first I thought I needed a more powerful camera to improve my skills (e.g. 70D). I was worried because this camera is advertised as an entry level camera and I hoped it would bore me. I'm definitely NOT bored! I feel like it's easy enough for a beginner, but there is so much to learn with photography that it will keep you going for a while. I love that it's a rebellious series and I knew how to use it straight away because it looked so much like xTi. Of course there are many similarities between xTi and SL1, for example ISO can be much higher than xTi, but I usually stay below 400 as much as possible, but at higher values images look better than at the same ISO, what is and xTi. Everything looks better with this camera! The first thing that struck me about this camera is how small and light it is. I can shoot 800 shots an hour and by the end of the shoot I don't have many issues with camera shake due to hand fatigue. The picture quality is fantastic. The photos are so sharp there is almost too much detail and I find myself photoshopping my baby's scabs! However, I don't spend as much time fixing my photos as I used to. Most of the images I provide are original and untouched. In addition, the SL1 is a super-fast camera and can easily keep up with the little ones. A few things I like but didn't know I would like is the touchscreen. I also like the ultra-quiet autofocus of the STM lens. And I love how I can use all of my old Canon lenses and gear that I've collected over the years. This camera is quickly becoming my favorite camera because of the images it produces. In the two weeks I've had them I've already taken several thousand shots and by the end of my shoot I have a higher percentage of good shots compared to other cameras I have and tested before buying this one . Ultimately I would very much like to make this purchase again and this time I would not choose this camera for a long time!
