sparkler? -- may be!

It was time to replace the spark plugs on my 2004 HCH and after hearing an ad for this spark plug on the radio from a local DJ I decided to look for these instead of the replacements recommended by Honda. After all, Honda is already outdated, and manufacturers often (or rather never) update their recommendations after a car model is discontinued. I've burned myself with "snake oil" candles before (yes I've bought splitfires once and see my other reviews of Bosch +4 candles) so I guess I'm a punisher. However, after I bought them I was concerned that the "dual tip" they were talking about looked like old splitfire plugs. That's not correct, the nomenclature "double tip" means a "tip" on the electrode of the connector and another on the ground bar of the connector, i.e. two small "points". It looks similar to the spark plug testers of yore, where you stick between the spark plug and the wire and adjust the screw to see the spark jump across the gap. Installation went well, what the heck, it's spark plugs. I added some anti-seize to the threads, although most people would advise against it, but I prefer threading into an aluminum head. I know this should change the thermal domain characteristics etc, but I think it's negligible in the real world. The first thing I noticed after starting the car was that the idle was noticeably (but not by much, mind you) smoother. I could tell before and after. Performance seems to have improved but this is a new set of spark plugs. What really made me think was that I had a check engine light that said a NOx code that I just couldn't get rid of. Replace the cat because of $$$) but about 3 days after installing these plugs the CHECK ENGINE LAMP went OFF! Obviously the ignition is better. Now I understand that this is not at all scientific as any set of stubs could solve this problem, but I have to at least give credit to those stubs and thank them for that alone. So I'm happy. Looks like a high quality spark plug. My fuel economy increased by about 0.5% which was around 2-3mpg on my HCH. I'm hesitant to give credit to these particular plugs, although perhaps ANY set of new plugs would improve economics, at least initially. Try them out and see what you think. They're cheaper than most OEM iridium plugs, and even if they don't turn off your check engine light like I did, you at least have a new set of spark plugs in your car, and that's another variable to exclude from the list possible.
