PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING A PET. You have probably seen my comment elsewhere

BEFORE CONSIDERING PURCHASING PLEASE CHECK ALL REVAIN OPTIONS, YOUR LOCAL FISH STORE, CHECK OUT PETCO/PETSMART ON THEIR DAYS, AS WELL AS THE ADS ON CRAIGSLIST AND ON EBAY, YOU CAN GET A 20+ GALLON TANK FOR UNDER $15 IF YOU JUST LOOK! It will save you money, make cleaning and maintenance easier, and provide a much better life for any animals you choose to house in it! The 20g tank is NOT HUGE either! Mine is only 2ft wide and fits perfectly on my desk, but I've seen others that are slightly larger and give you a lot more room to work! It's the perfect size for a baby dresser or your workspace! This tank looks terrible. Too small for each fish, please don't force the animal to do something like that. Small fish such as bettas and guppies require special care and their needs cannot be met in such a small aquarium. Animals like shrimp and snails also require special care and cannot live in a 1 gallon tank as shrimp are incredibly sensitive to water chemistry and snails exceed the amount of waste you can accommodate in such a small environment (in other words , their bioburden). DO NOT ALLOW GOLDFISH IN THIS BAKU! Goldfish are also incredibly delicate and need to be in a LARGE space with other goldfish! Many goldfish will grow to about a foot long NO MATTER HOW SMALL THE BATTERY, and they EVEN require 30-50 gallons. As a general rule they should live in groups of THREE OR MORE and live to be 20-60 years old, you cannot keep them successfully at that! It doesn't matter which animal you choose. Also, there must be a natural balance of "good” and "bad” bacteria in any aquatic environment, and that simply cannot be achieved in such a small space. To make up for the amount of waste your animals produce, you'll likely drain their water every few days and COMPLETELY DISCARD that buildup of healthy bacteria. There is no place for a filter or heater which are a MUST for almost all aquatic life and any decoration will only crush your fish more and make their lives worse. Also, learn about the nitrogen cycle and properly cycle your aquarium before putting anything in it! This will prevent all your children's tears and save you a ton of money on all the spare fish and/or medicine you would otherwise have to buy for them! Sensitive animals such as fish, shrimp, snails, frogs, etc. can die within hours if placed in a non-cycling, unnatural environment. You, your kids and pets will be MUCH HAPPY with the right setup! If you want to grow something in such a setup, you can turn it into a terrarium for small bugs like caterpillars, or stick with the ocean theme and breed triops or sea monkeys/brine crabs in there! These animals do not usually require any special care and their natural lifespan is no more than a few months. Triops are a little more difficult to breed, but they lay eggs so your kids can keep watching their life cycle. If you ever get a larger tank, you can also feed the triops/sea monkeys other fish or frogs. PLEASE study for yourself and make a sensible decision before buying anything like this for animal husbandry!
