Good Copper Terminals: Tester

I got this mainly because I wanted lower resistance alligator clips that can handle more than 5A. They appear to be pure copper as advertised, although I was about to write a review saying it wasn't because they stuck to a magnet. This is due to the metal rivet. The clip itself does not stick to the magnet. They are quite small (see photo). At least as long as they have an even bite (without big gaps on the sides and curves). The maximum resistance is less than 4 mΩ (see measurement circuit in the figure. Load 1.1 A, drop 2-3.5 mV. The same test on large steel clamps gives more than 13 mΩ). The rubber boots that come with the kit will not allow you to fully close the clamps without pinching them with your hands. I suspect they could be replaced with some heat shrink tubing - one to cover the push lever and the other to cover the cable connection. So not bad! I give 4 stars because they can be cheaper than $1 each.

Pros
  • Application --- ideal for technical students to make test leads, solder built-in fuse holders; electronic projects; ventilation and air conditioning systems; Test bench; Troubleshooting the fire alarm system.
Cons
  • Operating Speed
