Review on Elmer's Craft Bond Clear Glue for Fabric and Paper, 4 oz by Kim Sanchez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Useful for repairing old magazines

I collect pulp (and some old magazines). I'm quite willing to accept a book that requires a little care while it's finished in order to get a more reasonable price for it. Unfortunately, a lot of really stupid people use duct tape or Elmers school glue to fix these old books, and neither of those work well. I looked at what professional restorers use in their projects. A lot of them use professional quality glue and things like that that are too expensive to use on a ton of old books. But one person used this glue and happily recommended it. Revain was the only place I found it; There is a simple solution. I had a few extra things that needed some TLC and experimented until I found a solution. I pour the glue - luckily it's water soluble - down and then apply it to the cracks and breaks with a (special) brush. If it's a cover, I try to work on the inside of the cover; internal pages and it doesn't matter. Even a little diluted solution dries both reliably (I have never opened cracks and tears) and soft (the sides remain pliable, for a long time one cannot say that such repairs were made at all). I'm sure it has other uses as well, but I wanted it to fix old books and other things, and it does its job well.

Pros
  • Adhesives
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
