Sturdy and versatile

Any power strip is great for adding a few extra outlets to a room, but it's important to find one that won't destroy your electronics with dangerous surges or start a house fire. All you know for sure is that after your gear gets fried, you need a surge protector. Then it will be too late. For a very reasonable amount of money, you can install an almost literal firewall between your expensive (and cheap) electronics and the juice from the wall outlet. Surge protector throws itself in the line of fire and keeps sacrificing its components to keep your devices working. This 12-output surge protector has it all. I can connect phone/fax/DSL lines, coax for TV/cable modems, and Ethernet and power cords for all my devices to protect them from power surges and surges wherever they come from. The low profile power strip features 12 outlets and 4 USB ports. The USB ports deliver a total of 6 amps, which is enough to charge three smartphones or two tablets at high speed or three tablets at low speed. The slim design allows you to place it under tables and behind furniture so you can set it up and forget it. - although the protection and ground condition indicators are not visible in this case. The key feature of this surge protector, in my opinion, is its sturdy construction.
