I bought a Kapaxen EH-5 Plus EP-5B instead of a Nikon EH-5B and EP-5B combo to power a Nikon D800E digital SLR camera supply that is installed in a time-lapse system. At first the Kapaxen power supply seemed to work fine, but after installing it I noticed that our time lapse system could not control the camera. The camera turned on and was visible to our computer, but we couldn't control it to take pictures or upload them from the camera's Pictures folder. The next time we had a chance to examine the camera in the field, we found that the camera's top LCD menu indicated that the camera had no battery. After the Kapaxen EP-5B was disconnected from the Kapaxen EH-5 and reconnected, the camera's battery indicator showed a full charge. We have found that Kapaxan will provide around 12-16 hours of power and then fail and behave like a long life battery. We got an original Nikon power supply and replaced it with a Kapaxen and the camera had no issues or power issues and significantly the camera doesn't show the battery indicator icon. This showed us that the Kapaxen model does not work like the Nikon adapter. The D800E thinks it is connected to the battery and not the power supply. If you need an adapter to provide continuous power, Kapaxen is NOT a good choice. If you only need to turn the camera on when it's near you on your desktop or where you can conveniently turn it on when you need it, it might be worth the savings.
