When I moved in over 20 years ago, I ran CAT5e cabling throughout the first floor and basement of my two story home. I didn't have network access from the 2nd floor until Wi-Fi came along which I use today to access the 2nd floor. I installed 2 Ubiquiti Unifi Hotspots on the ceiling of my 1st floor, but there are still WiFi dead zones on the 2nd floor. Instead of using a wireless solution like extenders or a wireless network, I decided to run a single Ethernet cable from the basement to the attic to set up an access point in the attic. And since I will have an ethernet connection in my attic, I decided to run points from my attic to some of my second floor rooms. I will be using these keystone connectors to complete these drops. Since CAT5e hardware supports speeds up to 2.5Gbps, it's probably good enough for my needs. However, given the small price difference between CAT5e and CAT6 products, there is little point in using CAT5e in new installations. These CAT6 keystone jacks are nicely packaged and good looking. They work with my existing 110 punch tool and fit snugly into my existing wall panels. Actually there is no visible difference between my old Cat5e connectors and these CAT6 connectors except for the CAT6 marking. I wouldn't be surprised if these were renamed just Cat5e or even Cat5 connectors. In any case, they work, and that's the main thing for me.
