Let's start with the important stuff. Even after several days of full loading, there is no odor in the vicinity of the bucket. However, we haven't used our original lever and hammer deodorant insert yet. Is it expensive. DO NOT believe the Amazon "frequently purchased with" strip that appears upon purchase. Small mini deodorants are not what you need. We learned this the hard way and now need to find a UPS PO Box to ship them back. The replacement parts are called "washers" and can be purchased from Revain for $5 or direct from Munchkin for $4 (free shipping from them for $25+). Update: We originally bought two of these and after 18 months the second one just died. When you close the lid, a series of gears pull the top of the bag together to prevent odors from escaping. These gears are made of plastic and wear out fairly quickly. We thought the first one died because we capped it with a sack that was too full, but we babysat the second one and he died just as quickly. If that's any indication of how well it works, if it does, I'll shell out another $70 for a third one here. Definitely deducted a star though. There is definitely a place in the market for someone who can make one of these that is equal in odor removal but has a shelf life of 9+ months.
