3.0mm looks dirty when worn.

I got 2.5mm and then ordered 3.0mm. I like the color 2.5 as there was no coating on the underside of the stone. But the 3.0mm has a dark coating on the bottom and looks black when worn. The 2.5mm was much brighter and looked more premium. I like the size of 3.0mm but it looks dirty when worn due to the dark coating on the underside of the stone. None of the photos shown have this cover. Did I get the version of these spikes I wanted the second time around? Why so different? They are not at all what I expected when I saw 2.5mm.
