Review on Acer Monitor FreeSync Technology ZeroFrame 23.8": Enhanced Gaming Experience with 165Hz, Tilt Adjustment, and ZeroFrame Design by Warrick Infinite

Revainrating 4 out of 5

That's good, but a couple of issues keep this monitor from being great.

First off, this is a very good little 144Hz monitor. Yes, this is a 144Hz monitor. People in the reviews don't seem to be aware of the fact that you need a DP cable to get 144Hz. HDMI only delivers 60Hz. Also, PS4 and Xbox One only run at 60Hz. If you're buying this for console gaming, don't worry. The amount of questions/feedback I've seen on these issues has been absurd, so hopefully I've helped clear this up for those who are confused. Now let's move on to the pros and cons. Pros: - Price. I bought it for $169 ($192 after tax) which seems like a fair price. The speakers are actually surprisingly good. I use a headset most of the time, but it's nice to know that the speakers aren't absolute junk like other monitors - PC games look great. 144Hz is a game changer and the screen quality and resolution is what you expect. Cons: frame. Having used the Scepter 165Hz monitor I was shocked to see how large the bezels on the Acer monitor are. To make the comparison clear, if the scepter monitor is the iPhone X, then the Acer KG241Q is the iPhone 5. Monitor stand. Holy cow, that sucks. First, it is very bulky and bulky. Second, it's completely static. You cannot move it from side to side or adjust its height. Also, you can ONLY adjust the angle of the screen. The screen is either completely straight, or it can be "rotated" by a maximum of 15 degrees. Very frustrating. In general, the monitor looks very "cheap". From the stand to the input buttons, it looks like a high-end monitor from 5 years ago. All in all, this is a good monitor. It's 144Hz and it works, so buy with confidence. That being said, my Zepter E255B-1658A is much better in many ways and costs exactly the same price as this monitor. My brother also has an Acer XFA240 ($199) and if you have $20 to spare I recommend this option.
