I bought this duvet to replace the exact same one apart from the size, same brand and even the same colour. The old duvet was too small for our double bed. So I ordered a king bed hoping it would cover the bed and hang generously on either side of the bed. I know that everything I'm going to say is typical of cotton. I washed the comforter before putting it on the bed and had to stop the dryer 5 times to clear the lint filter. I know it will improve with use, but still! I don't want an apartment fire! As the body of the blanket dried, the thicker edges didn't. I placed the comforter on the bed and found that it was a king size comforter, no more than 15 inches on each side of the king bed. I know it's cotton and I'm pretty sure it shrunk in the wash and dry (I should have put it on my bed before washing to compare but didn't). Cut the fabric to make a quilt! I'll keep it to myself, I love this type of blanket and any cotton blanket will shrink, but I think manufacturers have to take shrinkage into account.
