Attention _ Faulty wiring that can harm you and your family

This fan has serious wiring problems. I connected the black wire from the fan to the black hot wire on the side of the switch. Somehow the fan wiring has now made the white wire on the fan side HOT. The white wire from the fan must be a common (NEUTRAL) wire and not live. Honeywell outsources its technical support. Spoke to Esther, a rude and totally incompetent representative. She said the fan "should have done it" (heat the white wire). I asked to speak to another representative. I spoke to Jennifer. Jennifer told me that when power is "pushed in" (her words) from the black wire, the fan needs a way to output power (her words again), which is done by feeding that power out through the white wire. Her choice of words was clear evidence that she had no idea what she was talking about. I asked her about her electrical powers. She hesitated, telling me that she had been "trained" on how fans work. I told her that the advice she gave could lead to a short circuit behind the wall that could burn down the house and everything living in it. She ignored my application and said if I don't want the fan to send it back. That was the best advice she gave all day. I've spent over 3 hours asking electricians, incompetent Honeywell reps, and my contractors if this is okay. All (with the exception of Honeywell's "fake tech support") categorically said NO. I ended up buying a different brand ceiling fan at my local hardware store. Installed and operational in 30 minutes. It's scary to think that Honeywell makes hardware and software for our military, but they can't explain why their ceiling fan and tech support is such a disaster. This fan is a hazard to your home and family.
