The adapter comes with an installation CD for Win XP, Vista, 7 and 8. The CD installs drivers and the latest WIDCOMM Bluetooth 4.0 Dual Mode software. The adapter says it uses a Broadcom BCM20702 chip. Installation on XP took about 5 minutes. The Bluetooth program started, it recognized and connected my mobile phone on the first try, and after 20 minutes the phone was backing up. The adapter says it's energy efficient and works with headphones, although I haven't tried it yet. The adapter will show a small blue LED when connected and powered via USB. Very simple and easy to install. Couldn't ask for more. Worth $4 more than another one I got from Revain that came without a CD and was dead on arrival. I can't comment on the service as I didn't call. It's always a pleasant surprise when something works as promised.
