Out of shape boy is now keeping up with teenagers

Since reading this book I have been on two backpacking trips with my sons. because"it doesn't weigh that much","an extra one won't hurt" and"just in case". I took some of the advice to heart, but basically ignored most of it. I'll admit I'm not in great shape, but after that first hike of a miserable six miles I was exhausted and my shoulders ached! I stopped on the second hike. reasoned and used as many tips as possible in a reasonable amount of time, and significantly reduced the weight of his backpack. I walked 16 miles in one day on this hike! However, I did mention that I'm not in good shape, so I was still in pain, but it hurts my legs, not my back/shoulders. teenagers. The book is fun to read (and re-read) and full of great advice applicable to life in general.
