Review on Intelligent USB to CAN-BUS Converter: XP/WIN7/WIN8 Compatible with USB Cable and Analyzer by Tom Herman

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Worked once for Computers & Accessories

After sitting at the car's CAN bus for 30 minutes and capturing frames, the car's information display began to reset. After testing the insulation, this tester was found to produce about 2.5V on the CAN L and CAN H wires. The car is used but in good condition and has no electrical problems. The software is buggy (the stop buttons don't work - don't click 'Install and Run' and then try to change the number of frames to receive). There are two COM port settings: on the device and what the software expects. For some reason these settings have to be done manually. So you have to short the standard pads on the board and change the software settings, plug in the device, choose something from the dropdown list and change another redundant setting. Export an .xls file with captured frames. Otherwise it is unstable and causes instability in "Silent" mode.
