Best LED downlight I've tried

This is the best LED downlight I've tried. The color rendering is excellent. The light is excellent compared to the incandescent bulbs they replaced and much better than the compact fluorescent bulbs. The fairing is integrated into the unit, giving it a cleaner look than a two-piece ceiling light reflector, and the fairing has been replaced with a visible seam where the ring connects to the reflector. Spring ears are easier to use than the spring wires that come with other modifications. So the question is: why buy this and not models that are 1/2 smaller? . This light is IC compatible.3. CRI is better than less expensive options.4. Multiple color temperatures are available.5. It comes with a foam insulating ring that encloses the fixture to prevent HVAC from leaking into the unconditioned space above. It's definitely a good choice for high-traffic areas where color is important, bathrooms where damp or moisture-resistant fixtures are required, or installations recessed into attics. OTOH, in sedentary, dry areas with no air leak issues, a lower cost option can be more cost effective. My least favorite detail? 1. The foam gasket that runs airtight around the fairing appears to be rolled up in the instructions and never creases, making installation a bit tricky - not to mention the foam doesn't adhere to the mount at all. You'll see what I mean when you install this thing and remember you forgot the foam! 2. For some reason, not every unit comes with an insulating protective box covering the quick connector on the outlet. I didn't install it in a humid place so that wasn't a problem, but the fact that some of them were missing was weird. The box is also quite large, so removing the pedestal mount from an existing mount is a must. How difficult this is depends on how the bracket attaches to the countersunk can.3. Attaching the ground strap is the trickiest part as you have to try and tighten the wing nut or bolt in the tightest of spaces above your head. In summary: I love these modifications, they are easy to install, they look great and give off great light, and they are a great choice for a kitchen or bathroom and deserve a higher price tag than other options.
