I wanted this device to help my elderly parents drive less. Instead of a smaller model that only performs one function (12v, 1 amp, Mroinge MBC010) I figured that 5 amps of this model would erase a dead battery 1/5 times faster. Unfortunately, there's a mode button that can be set to the wrong mode and disable the lead-acid battery. Charging a lead-acid automotive battery in LiPo mode can potentially cause excessive voltage. There is a Dewalt charger that is only rated for 12v lead acid but still has an on/off button that you have to press. I'm going back to the Mroinge MBC010 Singlemode 12v 1amp because it's simple and doesn't have a button to mess with.
