Review on ๐Ÿ•๏ธ Durable Polar White RV Air Conditioner Shroud - ICON-1544 Brisk Air Dometic Duo Therm (New Style) by Jay Swearengin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Just installed, let's see how it holds up.

Three stars after initial installation as there is no central screw hole on the front and the two holes on the front panel do not align with the existing holes in the mating base of the air conditioner. In addition, the material thickness is 0.063 inches compared to 0.093 inches of the original cover. I had to press pretty hard on the back left corner of the cover to line up the screw hole. {Note: This was the last screw I installed and all other screws were loose at this point. The hole mentioned was 1/4" taller vertically.) I drilled two new screw holes for the two holes that didn't line up in front. I think the middle screw at the front is superfluous. this is an additional stiffening rib in the middle of the upper part of the cover, running the entire length. I have a feeling that all of the ribs could have been made much larger to give the lid more rigidity, but that's fine as it is. It would be nice if the 'tip' ribs were on top to keep dirt and water from collecting. (Note: The back of the lid is sealed with vents, which differs from the original lid, which is fully open. The rear bottom edge of the lid will flex due to the lack of structural support, but this does not affect function. The manufacturer claims, that the lid is made of the finest material. If the lid lasts much longer than the original and all the screw holes fit, I would give it four stars. For me it should be five stars, it's indestructible and will last a lifetime. This cover fits my " "New" Duo-Therm air conditioner model number 57915.531 RV that is on my 2003 Trail Lite. The description size in this ad and the manufacturer's website are incorrect in length. The length is 34.5 inches, not 35.5 inches (measured at installation).
