Almost not but that's due to some negative reviews, glad I did! I replaced my 10 gallon snail tank with sand, added a sponge filter and used a Zoomedical filter. This filter is a really good little filter. A lot of people have complained that the filter only has a suction cup at the top, there is room at the bottom for another suction cup, I put one in there and it stays in place. I thought it might be too big for my ten gallons but it's perfect. The only difference I would make is coarser sponges, but they've been there for 3 weeks and I took them apart and cleaned them yesterday, sponges and all. It was pretty easy to clean. Also, after I've used up the sponges I use and any extras they sent me, I just grab a coarser sponge and add it. Very happy with this product so far.
