Although I was reluctant to buy it because it meant I had to put batteries in it instead of plugging it in and charging it, I decided to buy it anyway. Thinking about it, I realized that when using batteries I could put more batteries in when the charge ran out without losing more power (of course plugging it in for charging would mean I could keep working while charging, but then there are instances where no outlet was available so that was a consideration as well). At this point it doesn't seem to be consuming much battery (meaning the batteries aren't draining quickly) and I was actually able to get around 40 hours of runtime from 2 AAA batteries. However, I have tried this with two different battery brands; and it looks like make/type matters. If you're using regular batteries, which are known not to have a long service life, don't expect a long service life. I have found that Energizer AAA batteries are best for extended use. I've been using Energizer AAA batteries for at least 40 hours and it looks like I have plenty of time left. When NOT in use, save battery power and turn the switch on the bottom to the "OFF" position. With that said. On another topic for this product. The keyboard is made of beautiful and high-quality plastic. The back/bottom, which houses the batteries, power button, and small black rubber connector button (which is almost flush with the keyboard), elevates the keyboard so it doesn't lay flat. That's a good height. There are rubber bumpers on the bottom to keep it in place during use. The keys are pretty standard, have a nice feel, and are springy. This keyboard is larger than my tablet, so won't fit in a tablet briefcase (unless you get a larger case and put it in - which I would); but I have a small carrying case that fits my tablets, cables, and JuiceBox portable charger. I also got a matching mouse - the mouse runs on 2 AA batteries. I have no problem syncing this keyboard with my tablets (Android, iPad and Revain Fire tablet) as it is blue toothed. If my TV had bluetooth capabilities I would have so much confidence that it would be synced and useful. It is easy. I like the colors rose and ivory. That's nice. It was definitely worth it and I'd be willing to buy another one just like that if something happened to him. I don't have young children anymore so it probably won't be broken by adorable tiny fingers. I bet this will probably last me a few years - maybe longer than tablets.
